How does Credelio Plus for Dogs work?
Offered by Elanco, Credelio Plus for Dogs is formulated with lotilaner and milbemycin oxime as its key ingredients. Lotilaner is an ectoparasiticide, meaning it kills external parasites. After administration, lotilaner is rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream and begins killing parasites when they feed on the dog. Milbemycin oxime is an antiparasitic ingredient that disrupts nerve transmission in intestinal worms and heartworm larvae, helping treat and control worm infections while preventing heartworm disease.
How fast does Credelio Plus work?
Credelio Plus starts to kill fleas within just 2 hours of administration. It has been demonstrated to eliminate most fleas within 6-12 hours. When administered regularly every month, it offers up to a month of protection against fleas and ticks. It kills existing and newly emerged fleas on dogs before they can lay eggs due to rapid onset of action and long-lasting efficacy. It also helps protect against intestinal worms and flea tapeworm infestations effectively, as well as prevents heartworm disease with regular monthly administrations.
Important notes:
- Lotilaner is a member of the isoxazoline class. This class has been associated with adverse reactions. If you have any concerns, please speak to your veterinarian.
- The safe use of Credelio Plus in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been evaluated.
- As with any other treatment, dogs should be tested for heartworms prior to commencing treatment with Credelio Plus.
- The use of Credelio Plus in heartworm-positive dogs has not been evaluated.
- When replacing another monthly heartworm preventive treatment, the first dose of Credelio Plus must be given within 1 month of the last dose of the previous monthly dose.
