Is it safe to switch from Frontline to K9 Advantix II? My dog is due for his monthly treatment also same question for our other dog (sister) Bree female Bichon same age weighs 12

Our Vet Says:

There won’t be a problem if you change the products but you need to leave 4 weeks between applications. If you need protection for fleas only you can swap Frontline to Advantage II.

I have 12 yr. old Male Black Lab that weighs 133 LB & was just diagnosed with heart worms. Are there any other options for him other than the Immiticide injections? I�m worried about this option because of the risk with his age. A couple veterinarians have told me to treat with heartgard for 12 months & may get negative test results in that time if I was needing a more affordable & safer option? Only other problem, Jordan has arthritis in his hip & currently takes 2 Rovera 100 mg. tablets dai...?
