Question from Linda Betz

Leo

Chow Chow Mix, age 9

I was wondering if i could use the Program Plus, if my dog is already on Iverhart Plus. Will this be too much heart worm preventative. I keep him on the Iverhart Plus all year, since we live in Central Florida. I actually just was looking to buy PROGRAM, not the plus formula. But i see that you do not carry regular PROGRAM. Thank you for your help, Linda

Our Vet Says:

Dear Linda, It is not recommended to use two heartworm prevention products at the same time. You can either use Ivehart Plus or Program Plus. If you are using a topical flea prevention product already you need to check if it has two active ingredients and if one of them is an insect growth regulator. If it is there is no real need to use Program as well as its active ingredient is from the same class of chemicals. If you want to use Program regularly please contact our customer care team and we will try to do something about it.

I have 12 yr. old Male Black Lab that weighs 133 LB & was just diagnosed with heart worms. Are there any other options for him other than the Immiticide injections? Im worried about this option because of the risk with his age. A couple veterinarians have told me to treat with heartgard for 12 months & may get negative test results in that time if I was needing a more affordable & safer option? Only other problem, Jordan has arthritis in his hip & currently takes 2 Rovera 100 mg. tablets dai...?
