Question from Nancy Trent

I administered frontline flea product to Lilo approximately one week ago November 18th to be exact. The fleas are still attacking him and now I would like to try another product. How soon after the application of Frontline may I try another product such as Revolution? (no offense intended) Sincerely, Nancy Trent from Tampa

Our Vet Says:

If the level of fleas infestation is still high, then it is possible that you did not apply the product properly and/or did not treat your house at the same time as you treated your pet.
The life cycle of fleas is between 3 weeks and 6 months depending on the humidity and temperature. And one treatment isn’t enough to eliminate a high flea infestation. The manufacturer of Frontline (Merial) advises that pets should be treated for at least 3 months for adequate protection.
It is also important that you understand how spot on products work. For the spot on product to kill the fleas, the fleas have to bite your dog and ingest the active ingredient of the product. Then within 12- 24 hours after contact, the product takes effect and kills the flea. So the product is effective, if it is killing the fleas.

Muffy was a rescue from a puppy mill at age 1. We’ve overcome many problems, but now we have 2 I’m not sure how to fix. she itches and chews all the time like she has fleas, but there are no fleas. I do shampoo her with flea shampoo that I got when she did have fleas a year ago, and I did try switching to a conditioning shampoo for a while with no help. I bathe her about every 2 weeks because after a week she starts to stink.. strong dog odor, and after a week her scratching and chewing get...?
