How long does capstar work for? and how many times a month can you give it if you are also using frontline plus. Why isn’t the frontline plus working on my dogs and cats. I had my house bombed with adams bombs 2 times then called a exterminator to do the house and yard but still an having a flea problem why? If I bathe my dogs once or twice a week will that deminish the frontline plus? thank you Jennylyn

Our Vet Says:

Let me give you some information about Capstar
Capstar is indicated for the treatment of fleas on dogs and cats.

Dosage and administration
Capstar tablets are administered orally at a minimum recommended dose of 1mg/kg
Capstar tablets should be given orally, either directly into the mouth or mixed into a small portion of food and given immediately. Administer on any day when fleas are seen on the animal. No more than one treatment should be given per day.

Further information
Effects on fleas may be seen as soon as 15 minutes after administration. Between 95% and 100% efficacy is observed within the first 6 hours and 100% efficacy is reached within 24 hours.
To help prevent re-infestation, the additional use of a suitable treatment to control immature stages of the flea life cycle in the environment is recommended. If in doubt consult your veterinary surgeon.
Nitenpyram is neither embryotoxic nor teratogenic. It can be given to animals at all stages of pregnancy or lactation.
Capstar works for a short period of time and can be given once a day. You can give any time when you see fleas on your dog.

All the spot on product kill fleas, they do not repels fleas. Fleas are killed within 24 hours of coming in contact with the active ingredients
