Question from Keith Ross

My cat Tony, has very bad breath. I use Iam’s indoor formula cat food. Is there something I can use to make his breath smell better, that won’t turn into a fight? He does not like being held, and it is near impossible to brush his teeth.

Our Vet Says:

Bad breath in cats usually has three causes: diet, dental or gastric problems. I suggest you check the following:
  1. Diet : Some canned food can cause bad breath in cats. You should check your pets’ diet. It has to contain solid (hard) food to help with cleaning the teeth. If he is on a special diet for some reason consult your vet before changing his diet. It is important that your cat’s diet is according to his size and weight, level of activity, special needs (current conditions). An appropriate diet helps in keeping your cat healthy.
  1. Dental problems: your cat

Muffy was a rescue from a puppy mill at age 1. We’ve overcome many problems, but now we have 2 I’m not sure how to fix. she itches and chews all the time like she has fleas, but there are no fleas. I do shampoo her with flea shampoo that I got when she did have fleas a year ago, and I did try switching to a conditioning shampoo for a while with no help. I bathe her about every 2 weeks because after a week she starts to stink.. strong dog odor, and after a week her scratching and chewing get...?
