The Very First Training Steps For Puppies- Don’t Miss!

BPC-TrainingPuppies are a bundle of joy and every dog owner knows it. Don’t you? Adding this cute member to family may bring absolute fun and delight in your life. According to the behavioral experts, training and management right from the start is important. Puppies can turn out to be well behaved dogs if proper disciplinary measures are induced in first few months of their life.

Following are the very first steps to train your puppies. Missing them in the threshold may pose issues later.

1. Handling is fine: Dogs should be comfortable when touched and handled by their owners. This would be possible only if you habituate them right from their puppyhood. Make them comfortable with you touching their paws, ears area around eyes, nose and mouth. Reward them with treats while you are training for it and let them know that handling is fine.

2. Chewing every other thing is not fine: We all are aware about the chewing habits of dogs. They need to gnaw on something for their teeth and gums. However you wouldn’t want them to chew your furniture or personal stuff, would you? Therefore training puppies to chew only on their toys may be the best chance to save your stuff. Select the chew toys appropriately considering the size of your pup.

3. Spending time alone is involuntary: With our jobs and commitments it is obvious that even so with heavy hearts, we may have to leave our pups alone at some point of time. If they are not trained for this then you may have serious problems handling them. Thus it is necessary to train your puppies on being comfortable when left alone.

4. Making friends is good: Introducing your dogs to the outer world only when he grows up may not be ideal. If you want your dogs to be adaptable and social when they grow up then you may have to instill that quality right from the beginning. Introduce your pups to new atmosphere, people and situations to make them stronger. Take them to dog parks so that they can mix well with other animals later.

5. For you- Don’t go long without training: Real behavioral issues start when pups step into adolescent age which is between 6-18 months. To keep your dog’s behavior in check it is necessary to continue the training even after your puppy has learnt all you intended to teach. A gap in between may affect them and like us they might forget to behave too.

In all, these 5 steps are the core ones and are recommended on taking seriously when it comes to training a new puppy. Add the various cues gradually to your training to-do list and make your dog the most adorable one with all the manners.
